Print Design - CGA@GCCPrint Option of the Computer Graphic Arts Program at Gloucester County College This program is a computer lab intensive program designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills required in the Computer Graphic Arts field. This program includes hands-on instruction using the most popular software packages used by organizations in the industry. The program is designed to prepare students for a career as a computer graphic designer, and/or for various positions such as multimedia artist, internet designer/developer, or digital image specialist. Part-time study, 1 or 2 courses per semester, will be supported and must be planned, by semester, by each student. Major requirements can be met in a two academic year period of full-time study. This program is a studio-intensive program designed to provide specialized knowledge of computer graphic arts and to prepare students for careers in graphic design, the pre-press industry, electronic publishing, and in printing and publishing firms. Computer Graphic Arts is a Macintosh-based academic program. Students complete studio hours for each CGA course, requiring extended hours in the Macintosh computer lab beyond class time.
What skills will I have as a Graphic Arts graduate? CGA is a hands-on, studio intensive program. Graduates of the associate degree and certificate degree programs are prepared for careers as graphic designers, desktop publishers, multimedia artists, website designers and digital imaging specialists. Numerous businesses utilize the talents of computer graphic designers, including advertising agencies, prepress facilities and web design firms. Many industries have a need for designers in publishing and advertising departments.
