Lab Assignments:

Part One:

You assignment is to recreate the object as closely as possible - not just the outer border - recreate the object ! To see how you are doing, you can hide the layer with the object on it by turning off the eye icon in the layers palette.

These are JPG Files - so right click or Control Click to save them to your Hard Drive or USB drive. Create a new layer in Illustrator and then use the Place command on the file menu. Lock the layer and then start to copy the design on a layer on top of the locked layer.

Part Two:

Six Word Memoirs - This past year an online magazine called Smith Magazine called for entries for six word memoirs. http://www.smithmag.net/sixwords/

According to Larry Smith the web site founder and author of the book "Not Quite what I planned: Six Word Memoirs", there is a legend that Ernest Hemingway was challenged to write a story in Six Words. Papa Heningway came back with this:

"For Sale: Baby Shoes, Never Worn"

Some people say this short story was his finest work. Other dismissed it as a literary folktale. Either way, the six word story was born and its been popping up around the writing world for years.

Your assignment is to think of a six word memior. You will the design the six words in a design using Adobe Illustrator. You may want to read some of the six word memoirs on the Smith Magazine Web site at:

You will print out the design of your six word memior to be displayed in the Cinderblock Gallery in Scott Lab. Also, I will be asking the enitre college community to contribute their six word memoirs. Want to know mine...well here it is...
