Part One - Lab and Homework: You assignment is to create a Text/Tag Cloud using an 8.5 by 11 inches/US Letter Paper, landscape or portrait. A Text/Tag Cloud is a visual representation of text words. You will select at least 75 words that are important aspects of your life. See Example from my Favorite Radio Show the Satellite Sisters Styles include all horizontal text or all vertical text. You can also combine styles, some words horizontal and some vertical. Text can also be angled. You can select a color theme of your our design or you can use one of the Color Theme from kuler.adobe.com. You can have a white background or a color background. Please save each of these illustrations as their own file. Save the files for future use. You will submit the files to the GCC Elearning Web Site at http://elearning.gccnj.edu. Please also print out the documents for your portfolio Part Two - Lab and Homework: Pen Practice - in order to make sure you are well practiced with the pen tool, I have designed an activity to ensure pen tool practice. You will create several illustrations using objects as trace elements. You assignment is to recreate the object as closely as possible - not just the outer border - recreate the object ! To see how you are doing, you can hide the layer with the object on it by turning off the eye icon in the layers palette. Pen Practice Files - These are Illustrator Files - so right click or Control Click to save them to your Hard Drive or USB drive. Please save each of these illustrations as their own file. Save the files for future use. You will submit the files to the GCC Elearning Web Site at http://elearning.gccnj.edu.

This is a JPG File - so right click or Control Click to save them to your Hard Drive or USB drive. Create a new layer in Illustrator and then use the Place command on the File menu. Lock the layer and then start to copy the design on a layer on top of the locked layer. You can recreate this graphic using the shapes tools and then using the pencil tool for the arms.
