Class Participation - Points given for participating in class discussions and adding to the class environment. This includes class attendance - if you miss class you will lose points in this section. Remember: If you miss three or more classes, you will fail this class !

Exam and Quizes

  • One Exam worth 100 points = December 6th/7th - Written
  • One Painter Tools and Interface Quiz = 50 Points = September 21st/27th - Written
  • Quiz on CGA Concepts and Theory = 50 points = October 12th/18th - Online
  • Quiz on Color Theory = 50 Points = November 9th/15th - Written

Projects:
Grading for each project is based heavily upon the artistic creation and expression of the projects. Projects will be graded based on:
(1) appropriate use of the tools
(2) thoroughness,
(3) craftsmanship
(4) artistic presentation

There are THREE PROJECTS due this semester - 3 projects @ 150points = 450 Points

Course Projects are to be completed outside of class. There are three CGA Computers in the Open Lab located in the Instructional Building Room 438. For hours of operations, please visit this web page: http://www.gccnj.edu/general_information/hours/index.cfm

You will submit two color prints of each project - one for grading and one for your student folder. Also, you will submit the electronic file via a CD-R or USB Flash Drive.

Lab Assignments:

This includes class attendance - if you miss class you will lose points in this section because you are not in class to complete the lab work!

There are FOUR lab assignments due this semester - 4 labs @ 75 points = 300 Points

Lab Assignments are to be worked on during lab time. You may need to work on lab assignments outside of lab time to complete the assignments ontime.

You will submit two color prints of each lab - one for grading and one for your student folder.

You will submit two files (RIF and JPEG) of the lab assignments

Grading Rubrics

In order to increase Student understanding of how projects, classwork and presentations are evaluated, the CGA program has developed grading rubrics. A grading rubric provides a framework for the categories which will be reviewed and evaluated to determine the student's grade on a project. The following rubrics will be used in this CGA course for grading

 

 

Course Grading Scale

Grading for this class is calculated using a straight forward mathematical formula. You can determine you grade at any time by dividing the number of points earned by the total points. For example, if I have earned 950 points out of 1150 total points, the grade would be a 82 % or B-.
